History
editInsyd 2016, de African Gifted Foundation establish de African Science Academy (ASA) - STEM-focused academy give gifted African girls from low-income backgrounds. Na Dr Tom Ilube CBE, technology entrepreneur den educational philanthropist found de academy make he spur interest insyd de field of STEM. Insyd August 2016, de academy begin plus 24 students from Cameroon, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda den Ghana. Since then, de academy grow make e attract girlies from 12 African countries, wey dey include Togo, Rwanda, Eswatini, den South Africa. Dem sanso double de size of dema cohort from 25 to 50 students. ASA be de first all-girl institution for advanced level Mathematics den Science insyd Africa.
Academics
editDe academy dey accept gifted students between de ages of 16 den 19, wey successfully plete dema secondary school education insyd Mathematics den Science.[2] For ASA, dema students dey undergo intensive advanced-level programme, dey plete Cambridge International A-Levels insyd Math, Further Math den Physics for under 11 months insyd. For addition to dema studies, dem sanso dey provide students plus de opportunity make dem participate insyd extracurricular courses insyd Computer Programming den Robotics.
