Na de African University College of Communications be formerly known as de Africa Institute of Journalism & Communications (AIJC). De institution be private tertiary institution dem establish insyd 2002 by Kojo Yankah, former editor of Ghana ein widest circulation newspaper, de Daily Graphic, wey na he sanso serve nine years as Director of de Ghana Institute of Journalism, seven years as Minister of State, den eight years as Member of Parliament.

Insyd 2007, de institute receive anoda approval from de National Accreditation Board make dem offer Bachelor of Arts degree courses wey dem cam know as de African University College of Communications (AUCC) wey e cam turn de first varsity insyd Africa make dem offer journalism den communication studies as ein flagship. For 2010 insyd, dem san grant AUCC accreditation by NAB make dem offer Bachelor of Science degree courses insyd Business Administration. De School dey affiliate plus de University of Ghana for de award of ein degrees den plus de National Board for Technicians Examinations (NABPTEX) for de award of ein diplomas.[2]
