Al Zawiya University

History
editInsyd 1983, University of Tripoli establish branch of dema College of Education insyd Zawia.[3] For 1988, na dem establish de institution as independent varsity, dem dey bell de Seventh of April University, plus separate administration den funding.[3][4] Na dem officially describe de reference to 7 April by de varsity as dem dey refer to "de great student event for de seventh of April 1976".[2][3] For 7 April 1976, student protests take place insyd Tripoli den Benghazi wey dey protest against human rights violations, wey dey call for civilian government den free den fair elections. Counterdemonstrations take place for de same day wey "dem detain chaw students for months". Dem use de date of 7 April from de first anniversary for 7 April 1977 wen annually to de late 1980s as date give public executions insyd Libya for reference to de "great student event". De Organizing Committee for the April Demonstration refer to de usage of de 7 April anniversary as "trademark" of Muammar Gaddafi ein government.[5]
Dem rename de varsity insyd 2011,[6] de year of de Libyan Revolution wey overthrow Gaddafi, as de University of Zawia.[7]
