Na dem establish de university by de Botswana International University of Science and Technology Act of 2005 as research-intensive university wey dey specialize insyd Science, Engineering den Technology for both undergraduate den postgraduate (master's den doctoral) levels. Construction begin insyd December 2009,[2] de contractors be China Civil Engineering Construction. Phase one of de project, worth US$61.5 million (R495.6 million), na de Botswana Government fund am. Dey span two years, de phase include de construction of de administration block, halls of residence for nearly 300 students den houses give 70 staff, laboratories, 256-seater auditorium, indoor sports arena, student center den book shop, clinic, den classrooms.[3] Enrollment for de university begin insyd March 2011[4] den de first semester commence insyd August of de same year. De project go accommodate 6,000 students.

17 May dey mark de celebration of de anniversary of de International Telecommunication Union (ITU) wey dem dey sign of de first international convention center.[5]
