History

Na dem form am insyd January 2005 from de merger of de Cape Technikon den Peninsula Technikon, dey follow years of change for de higher education landscape of South Africa. Insyd 1993, de Technikons Act na dem promulgate am, wey allow technikons make dem offer bachelor's degrees (B.Tech), master's den doctoral degrees for Technology insyd. Insyd March 2001, Kader Asmal (then Minister of Education) announce de National Plan for Higher Education top, wey for May 2002 insyd he announce de possible merger of de two institutions, plus de national working committee sanso recommend make dem include de University of the Western Cape for de merger insyd. Towards de end of 2002, dem announce de final merger, wey for October 2003 insyd dem approve de fresh name. Na dem appoint de Executive Interim Management towards de end of 2004.

Dem appoint Trevor Manuel chancellor of de varsity for April 2008 insyd.[1]
