editDem born Evelyn Amarteifio for May 22, 1916 for Accra. Na ein parents, two of ein sistos, den sam of ein aunts dey involve dema body for social den voluntary work in the 1920s den 1930s. She study for Accra Girls School den Achimota College. Na she be teacher for Achimota Primary School wey she san pursue ein voluntary work.[2]
Amarteifio travel go Britain go study plus YWCA for early 1953. As she return togeda plus Annie Jiagge, Thyra Casely-Hayford, Amanua Korsah den others, she establish YWCA for Gold Coast tym. She san travel go United States, wer na she dey learn about Jamaican Federation of Women. She use dis as model for de National Federation of Gold Coast Women wey ebe non-governmental national women's organization. After independence Amarteifio no fi protect de federation again from Kwame Nkrumah ein desire to control women's organizations, wey 1960 dem dissolve NFGCW.[2]
