Haramaya University
Haramaya University (HU) (Amharic: ሐረማያ ዩኒቨርሲቲ; Oromo: Univarsiitii Haramayaa) be public research university insyd Haramaya, Oromia Region, Ethiopia. History
editNa dem establish Haramaya University as "Haramaya University College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences" insyd 1954 wey na e be part of Addis Ababa University til 1985 wen dem upgrade am go full-fledged university of agriculture. De university convert go multi-disciplinary university insyd 1996. Dem name de university as "Haramaya University" insyd 2006.[1][2]
For 27 May 1985, dey mark de historic visit of Presido Mengistu Haile Mariam to campus, dem transform de college into University of Agriculture. By 1995/1996, de university undergo fresh transformation phase wey dey involve fields of Teacher Education den Health. Insyd September 2002, na dem gbele two more facilities: Faculty of Law den Faculty of Business and Economics.[3]
De college offer BSc den MSc degrees den PhD in animal den range sciences; plant science; rural development den agricultural extension; natural resources den environmental sciences; den agricultural economics den agri-business. Dem fi obtain 20 MSc den 12 PhD programs from dese disciplines. De university dey give two den half year BSc programs for mid-career professionals wey dey zuk diploma insyd agriculture den forestry. De university dey operate ein research den extensive activities under umbrella term of Ethiopian Institution of Agricultural Research.[1]
