editKing Ampaw born 25 July 1940 for Kukurantumi, Eastern Region of Ghana. He go Academy of Film for Potsdam, Germany for 1965. For 1966, he sanso go Academy of Music and Performing Arts for Vienna, Austria, den Hochschule für Fernsehen und Film München, Germany (HFF Munich) from 1967 to 1972, wey he study plus Werner Herzog den Wim Wenders. He graduate as film director plus ein first film, They Call it Love.[1]
After ein return to Ghana, he cam turn senior director for Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) from 1979 to 1982, wen he lef GBC make he start ein own film company, Afro Movies Ltd.[1] King Ampaw write, direct den produce ein own films like Kukurantumi, Road to Accra (1983), Juju (1985) den No Time to Die (2006).[3] Chaw of ein films get funding from ein own company, Afromovies Ltd, den international agencies den governments, like No Time to Die wey get funding from European Union den French Government.[4] Ein films get praise from all over de world wey dem win chaw awards, wey dey include Film Critics Award for Kukurantumi, Road to Accra at FESPACO, Input Film Award for Juju insyd Czech Republic, den Talifa Film Festival Award for No Time to Die insyd Spain.
He be de first Filmmaker wey dem give Honorary Award for de Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Nigeria.[5] For de 2012 NAFTI Film Lectures, dem honour am for ein immense contribution put de film industry plus cross-cultural collaborations between Ghana den Germany.[6] He sana receive another Lifetime Achievement Award for 2013 for Accra International Film Festival.[7] He be one of de founding members of FEPACI (Union of African Filmmakers), FESPACO, Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA), den Directors' Guild of Ghana (DGG).[1]
King Ampaw dey work on one film now, wey dey titled "The Son and Sun of Africa", wey dey talk about de life of de legendary Pan-Africanist, Kwame Nkrumah, wey dis one go be ein last film, make he plete ein creative works.[1][6]
