Insyd 1987, Governor Adetunji Olurin, de Military Governor of Oyo State then, (now nu dem split into two states: Oyo den Osun), receive request from de Polytechnic, Ibadan ein Governing Council make dem establish State varsity. Insyd 1988, he form seven-member interministerial committee, chair by Mrs. Oyinkan Ayoola, wey na he recommend de varsity ein creation. For 13 March 1990, Nigeria ein federal military government government approve de State ein request. Dem sign de edict na dey establish Oyo State University of Technology for 23 April 1990, by Colonel Sasaenia Oresanya.[2]

Olusegun Ladimeji Oke serve as de inaugural Vice-Chancellor of de varsity, den insyd January 1991, Late Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola assume de role of de first Chancellor. De varsity commence ein initial academic session for 19 October 1990, plus 436 candidates dem enroll over four faculties namely :

Agricultural Sciences, Environmental science Sciences, Engineering den Management Sciences, den Pure den Applied Sciences. Na dem establish College of Health Sciences year later.[2]

For two consecutive seasons, insyd 2003 den 2004, de Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) rate LAUTECH as de best state varsity for Nigeria insyd.[2][3] For de recent World Universities ranking by Webometrics insyd, de institution achieve de seventh position among Nigerian varsities wey e secure de top spot among Universities of Technology.[2][4]

De main campus dey insyd Ogbomoso, Oyo state. Dis campus be de site of de varsity ein administration as well as home to six faculties den de post-graduate school.[5] Fields of study dey include pure den applied science, medicine, agriculture, engineering den technology, den environmental science.

De Osogbo campus, wey na dey host de college of health science dem rename am UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital (UNIOSUNTH) after de recent takeover of LAUTECH by de Oyo state government.[6]

Dem establish Ladoke Akintola University of Technology for July, 1990.[10] From July 1990 to January 1999, na de University library dey situate insyd compact area within de building wey currently dey house de university bookshop. Insyd February 1999, dem relocate de library go ein current den permanent site for de campus top. De library now get de capacity make e comfortably accommodate three thousand users simultaneously.[10]
