Na Kofi Abrefa Busia appoint Amponsah as Minister for Lands, Mineral Resources, Forestry and Wildlife insyd ein Progress Party government. Na dem later appoint am Education minister wey he initiate de process for reforms insyd basic education insyd Ghana.[1]

Fourth republic

During de fourth republic, na he be de Chairmo of de Council of Elders of de New Patriotic Party (NPP). Na he be influential make he dey unite chaw factions within de NPP wey dey lead up to de 2008 presidential den parliamentary elections.[5]
