TUM history

TUM fi trace back to de late 1940s wen Sir Philip Mitchell, Aga Khan III, de Sultan of Zanzibar, den Secretary of State for de colonies, Sir Bernard Reilly start de Mombasa Institute of Muslim Education (MIOME).[13] After ein inception, MIOME start dey provide technical education to Muslim students of East Africa. Insyd May 1951, MIOME enroll ein first batch of students make dem undergo technical education programme wich place special emphasis for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Seamanship den Navigation, den Woodwork.[14]

Insyd 1966 MIOME cam turn Mombasa Technical Institute (MTI) wey dem start dey admit all people from different walks of life regardless of religion anaa race.[15]

Insyd de year 1976, MTI cam turn Mombasa Polytechnic. Mombasa Polytechnic continue dey develop more market driven programs, anchor for de five established Departments of Business Studies, Electrical den Electronics Engineering, Building den Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering den Applied Sciences.[16] For 23 August 2007, thru Legal Notice dem elevate Mombasa Polytechnic to University College thus de name Mombasa Polytechnic University College (MPUC).[17]

Insyd 2013 after dem elevate am to fully fledged University Mombasa Polytechnic University College (MPUC) cam turn Technical University of Mombasa (TUM). TUM open two strategic satellite Campuses insyd Kwale den Lamu County.[18][19]
