Cassiel Ato Baah Forson be Ghanaian politician den member of de Seventh Parliament of de Fourth Republic of Ghana den member of de Eighth Parliament of de Fourth Republic of Ghana wey he dey rep de Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency insyd de Central Region for de ticket of de National Democratic Congress (NDC).[1][2] Insyd 2013 he cam serve as de deputy Minister for Finance.[3][4]

Dr. Forson dem born am for 5 August 1978 wey he hail from Ajumako Bisease insyd de Central Region of Ghana.[1] He get ein PhD insyd Business and Management (finance option) insyd September 2020 from de Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) insyd Ghana.[6] Prior to make he get ein doctorate, de MP get two masters degrees: Master of Science insyd Taxation from de University of Oxford, UK den another Master of Science degree insyd economics from KNUST. He get ein first degree insyd accounting from de South Bank University insyd London.

Dr. Forson be member of de Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana den fellow of Chartered Institute of Taxation.[4][7]

Dr. Forson be Ghanaian Legislator, Fiscal Economist, Chartered Accountant, Tax practitioner den Entrepreneur wey he get professional experience wey dey span two decades insyd both private den public sectors.[8] He be de managing director for Forson Contracts Limited insyd de United Kingdom. He san dey serve as de chief executive officer for Omega Africa Holding Limited.

Politics

Dr. Forson be member of de National Democratic Congress (NDC). He be NDC member of parliament wey he dey rep Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam constituency since 2009. He currently be de Minority Leader.[9][10]

2008 elections

Insyd 2008 he come contest insyd de Ghanaian General Elections den win. He garner 18, 593 votes wey edey rep 51.66% for de total votes cast den hence defeat de other contestants wey edey include William Kow Arthur-Baiden, Alex Arthur, Rexford Mensah den Evans Addo-Nkum.[11]

2012 elections

Under de ticket of de National Democratic Congress again, he come contest insyd de 2012 Ghanaian General Elections den win by obtaining 24,752 votes wey edey rep 52.67% for de total votes cast.[12]

2016 elections

Insyd 2016, he contest again insyd de 2016 Ghanaian General Elections den he san win giving him de chance go rep ein constituency for de third term. During de 2016 elections, he come contest against Ransford Emmanuel Kwesi Nyarko, Jerry Henry Quansah, Sarah Mensah den Monica Daapong. He defeat dem all by obtaining 25,601 votes wey edey rep 53.55% for de total votes cast.[13]

2020 elections

Insyd de 2020 Ghanaian general elections, he san win de parliamentary seat plus 39,229 votes wey making 58.1% for de total votes cast wey de NPP parliamentary candidate Etuaful Rashid Kwesi get 28,229 votes making 41.8% for de total votes cast den de NDP parliamentary candidate Samuel Akombisa get 117 votes wey make ein 0.2% for de total votes cast.[14][15]

Deputy Minister for Finance

Insyd 2009 he cam turn member of de Parliament of Ghana den serve as de deputy minister for Finance insyd 2013.[7] As deputy Minister he serve as a member of Ghana ein Economic Management Team. He san serve on several boards wey edey include dat for Bank of Ghana den Ghana Cocoa Board. He san become Ghana ein Alternate Governor for de International Monetary Fund (IMF) den de World Bank. Ein expertise san bring am to light wen he come chair de Committee wey implement de Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System Reforms (GIFMIS).

Controversy

Dem allege say Forson cause financial loss to Ghana as he do procurement for 200 ambulances between 2014 den 2016.[16][17]

Accra High Court order Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minority leader insyd Parliament, make he gbele ein defense insyd de €2.37 million ambulance case.[18]

Insyd July 2023, Forson accuse Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe, Court of Appeal Judge den de Judge wey dey charge of de case say she no be fair to am.[19]
