Demma History

Dem first establish UMaT as de Tarkwa Technical Institute insyd 1952. For 1961 insyd, dem change de varsity go de Tarkwa School of Mines make e help train manpower for de mining industry insyd Ghana. UMaT cam turn faculty of de Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) for 1976 insyd. For 1 October 2001, dem elevate UMaT to varsity college status wey dem know am as de Western University College of KNUST. UMaT cam turn fully fledged varsity insyd November 2004 by act of Parliament (Act 677). For 2008 insyd, de first batch of Students graduate insyd Tarkwa widout make dem dey go to KNUST for de ceremony.[1] For January 12, 2018, dem rename de varsity go George Grant University of Mines and Technology[2] for honour of Paa Grant.

De faculty of mineral resources technology be de only such one insyd de West Africa sub-region for training high-level personnel insyd de mineral industry wey edey continue dey attract students from countries insyd de sub-region den across de Africa continent. De Faculty dey consist of six (6) Academic Departments wey dey offer de four-year BSc programmes insyd:[4]

  • Department of Geomatic Engineering
  • Department of Mineral Engineering
  • Department of Mining Engineering
  • Department of Petroleum Engineering
  • Department of Environmental den Safety Engineering

De Faculty of Integrated Management Science cam into operations at de beginning of de 2017/2018 Academic Year. De Faculty dey consist of two academic departments, namely:

  • Department of Management Studies
