Early life den education

Na Dawson be one of de thirteen kiddies of Ghanaian architect Wilberforce David Kwami Dawson den Evelyn Esi Dawson. He attend Mawuli School insyd Ho for ein secondary school education. Before Mawuli, he attend O'Reilly School den Bana Hill Presbyterian Boys Boarding School. Na one of ein art teachers at Mawuli School be Grace Kwami.[3] Thereafter, he go de then Kumasi College of Technology (KCT) make he study diploma insyd Civil Engineering. He, however, drop out den join de teaching specialist Diploma insyd Fine Art (DFA) class.[1]

Wen dem start de Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) BA Art Degree (Painting) insyd 1964, na Dawson be part of de first cohort of three students. After KNUST, Dawson attend de Slade School of Fine Art insyd London for a British Council 8-month Technical Award. For Slade, na he learn den master de basics of painting for canvas as well as screen printing.[1]

Career

Na Dawson be an apprentice of Ghanaian modernist master den designer of de national emblem Amon Kotei. For Victoriaburg Press, Kotei teach Dawson engraving den colour separation process. After Dawson ein retirement from Ghana ein Information Services Department insyd 2000, he devote chaw of ein time to ein art practice.[3] He cam turn de first artist make he show at Nubuke Foundation gallery insyd 2009.[5] Na Dawson be de subject of a large retrospective at de Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama initiate Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art, Tamale.
